PSYCHOTHERAPY

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are your services covered by insurance?

I am considered an out-of-network provider.  I do not accept insurance.  Many insurance companies provide reimbursement for psychotherapy services.  At your request, I will provide statements with the necessary codes for possible reimbursement from your insurance plan or flexible spending account.  I am not a Medicare provider.

What ages do you work with?

I work with ages two and a half and up.  I only work with young children when their parents participate in the session.

What states do you work in?

I am licensed in Texas, Oklahoma, and Florida.  I offer coaching services in ALL states and around the world.  Coaching is indicated for wellness goals related to exploring a life path, making transitions, defining positive habits, and living a life consistent with core values.

Is teletherapy right for me?
I've noticed that many people I work with feel more comfortable in their environment than in a traditional counseling office. I realized this when my office flooded due to Hurricane Ike in 2008. As a result, I started meeting people in their homes and offices. I had the same experience during the 2020 pandemic when I began visiting with people online. People take less time to warm up, and there is no need to work around the stressful transition of driving to an appointment and hoping a session begins on time.

Teletherapy is a convenient option that allows you to receive therapy from the comfort of your own home, workplace, or school. Family members can participate from multiple locations. Educators and other providers may also join sessions to collaborate on treatment goals.

I am often asked whether teletherapy is suitable for little kids. The answer is yes! Kids tend to act more naturally at home, and for that reason, I see authentic behavior. I work with many wiggly kids who blurt and are challenged to maintain attention. A significant benefit of teletherapy is that the child doesn't have to transition to another place during the day.
