A Big City with a Welcoming Western Vibe and Dazzling Diversity

Fort Worth is a dynamic North Texan city that’s known as a place to explore Western wonder, get back in the saddle, or venture down happy trails while being deeply embedded in cowboy culture without sacrificing its modern-day magic. With a population of over one million people and covering over 350 square miles (making it the 11th-largest city in the nation), it’s thriving, welcoming, and etching its mark. While this town developed as part of a military outpost in the mid-1800s before finding its niche in the cattle industry (so much so that it’s still called “Cowtown”), it’s now a blend of modern highrises, thriving corporations, an eclectic nightlife, and Texas traditions. Industry-wise, it’s much more than a cattle call, with the aviation, architecture, oil, and defense industries playing vital roles in the metropolis’ makeup.

Although it’s known for several Lone Star staples, including Tex-Mex fare, mouthwatering barbecue, and country music, its charm isn’t limited to the Southern kind. It’s home to several nationally recognized museums, an arts scene that blends Western ethos with creativity, and the Trinity Trails System: a network of hiking, biking, and walking trails that mosey along the Trinity River. It’s also among the most diverse cities in the United States, where ambitious professionals, generational families, old cowboys, old souls, and newagers contribute to Fort Worth’s “worth”, welcoming those from all walks and rides of life.

ADHD-Focused

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder is a neurodevelopmental condition common in kids, with roughly 11% of children in the US between the ages of 3 and 17 diagnosed. ADHD also affects 4-5% of adults worldwide; however, it’s often underdiagnosed in this demographic.

Selective Mutism-Focused Care

Selective Mutism is a disorder that affects between .3% and 1% of children, with a slight predominance in girls. The condition typically begins before age five, although it may not be diagnosed until years later.

Autism-Focused

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects 1 in 36 children. Although it can impact both sexes, it’s four times more common in boys. Roughly 30% of autistic individuals also have a co-occurring intellectual disability, while 70% exhibit either average or above-average intelligence.

Anxiety-Focused

Anxiety disorders affect approximately 1 in 10 kids, 1 in 3 teens, and 1 in 5 adults. These disorders are among the earliest developing mental conditions, with an average age of onset at 11 years old. Unfortunately, many people in this city and across the state assume that anxiety is a normal part of life; as a result, only 36% of those impacted ever seek treatment.

Trauma-Focused

Distressing events that make a lasting impact occur in people from all backgrounds, with over 60% of adults reporting a traumatic event at some point in their lives. PTSD or other trauma-related disorders are higher in women, which is likely a reflection of social and biological factors, as well as the willingness to get help.

Mood Disorders-Focused

The two most common mood disorders are Major Depressive Disorder and Bipolar Disorder. Major Depressive Disorder typically begins in the early to mid-20s and affects around 8% of people in the US. Symptoms of Bipolar Disorder frequently appear in the late teens to early 20s and affect 3% of the population.

Backed By Science, Infused With Imagination

I’ve spent two decades committed to helping those who feel unseen, voiceless, and who are ready to get to work toward real breakthroughs. I work with layered and complex people in Fort Worth and the surrounding areas, helping them explore their identities, gain insight and clarity, and find a way to fit their neurodiverse minds into a neurotypical world. As a systems therapist, my practice is founded on the principles of curiosity, evidence-based care, and empathy, guiding people toward transformation in their relationships, careers, and sense of self.

Collaboration is highly important to me, and I often partner with schools, parents, guardians, occupational therapists, and other mental health workers to form a unified care plan. I fight for my clients, teach them how to harness their own gifts, and mix science with imagination and innovation. Wherever you are, lost in your anxious thoughts, burdened by sadness, or struggling to find your unique path, I am passionate about helping you help yourself

If you’re ready to dive in, I’d love to connect. Book a consultation, and let’s begin.
