McKinney is a growing city in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Known for having one of the most popular historic downtowns in Texas, it’s a welcoming, charming community with easy access to transportation, restaurants, cultural venues, and shopping. Outdoor recreation is also popular, with nature viewing, hiking, and biking among the most frequently tapped activities.
Are you in Mckinney and overwhelmed by everyday emotions, unable to focus or sleep because of a wandering mind, haunted by past experiences of traumatic events, or dealing with an unshakeable sadness? If this sounds familiar: the struggle is real and unrelenting, you haven’t felt like yourself in a long time, old interests and everyday joy elude you, or you’re stuck in a rut that feels inescapable, I’m here to help you climb out.
I merge creativity and connection with curiosity, compassion, and dedication to design a treatment plan unique to you. Tapping into your innate strengths, wonderful quirks, and underlying needs, we’ll work together in partnership to achieve your wellness goals. I work with children, adults, and families focusing on ADHD, selective mutism, autism, anxiety, trauma, and mood disorders.

I use a range of modalities, including:
McKinney is a Collin County city located roughly 30 miles from Dallas. As part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, it’s a growing community filled with families, long-time residents, professionals, and commuters. But even as it teems on the edge of expansion, it doesn’t sacrifice its charm or its roots. Its historic downtown ushers people back to simpler times, inviting locals and visitors into a Main Street medley of 19th-century buildings, live music venues, dozens of cafes and eateries, art galleries, wine bars, and over 200 shops and boutiques. Downtown is also known for its town-square traditions, such as farmers’ markets, seasonal festivals, and street fairs, and is one of the most active and popular historic areas in Texas.
Outdoor enthusiasts can find a home here as well. Lush vegetation, rolling hills, woodland pockets, creek corridors, and prominent prairies invite nature nurturers out into the sunbelt sunshine while nearby hiking, biking, and camping draw adventurers. Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary, a 289-acre refuge, glimmers as the city’s gem, a striking contrast between peaceful preserves and the region’s evolving development. Here, visitors can hike over five miles of trails, explore 50 acres of wetlands and flora, and spy butterflies, owls, deer, a bobcat, and life-size animatronic dinosaurs.
With a high quality of life, focus on education, family-friendly amenities, practicality, and warm, welcoming residents, McKinney makes space for people from all over. Commuters working in Dallas but wanting to live away from mega-city chaos can also find their place in this classic county seat.
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder is a neurodevelopmental condition common in kids, with roughly 11% of children in the US between the ages of 3 and 17 diagnosed. ADHD also affects 4-5% of adults worldwide; however, it’s often underdiagnosed in this demographic.
Selective Mutism is a disorder that affects between .3% and 1% of children, with a slight predominance in girls. The condition typically begins before age five, although it may not be diagnosed until years later.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects 1 in 36 children. Although it can impact both sexes, it’s four times more common in boys. Roughly 30% of autistic individuals also have a co-occurring intellectual disability, while 70% exhibit either average or above-average intelligence.
Anxiety disorders affect approximately 1 in 10 kids, 1 in 3 teens, and 1 in 5 adults. These disorders are among the earliest developing mental conditions, with an average age of onset at 11 years old. Unfortunately, many people in Denison and across the state assume that anxiety is a normal part of life; as a result, only 36% of those impacted ever seek treatment.
Distressing events that make a lasting impact occur in people from all backgrounds, with over 60% of adults reporting a traumatic event at some point in their lives. PTSD or other trauma-related disorders are higher in women, which is likely a reflection of social and biological factors, as well as the willingness to get help.
The two most common mood disorders are Major Depressive Disorder and Bipolar Disorder. Major Depressive Disorder typically begins in the early to mid-20s and affects around 8% of people in the US. Symptoms of Bipolar Disorder frequently appear in the late teens to early 20s and affect 3% of the population.

I work with neurodivergent and anxious minds, help those who walk to the beat of their own drum, and draw on my lived experience to connect with clients facing a variety of challenges.
I believe in diplomacy, collaboration, and coordinated care and offer these through systems theory, the creative arts, and evidence-based modalities. My counseling is personal, genuine, and effective, with the goal of tapping into your talents, celebrating your quirks, and paving the way for sustainable, meaningful change.
